Who can use ScaleTool

You need a Discord account to sign in. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough in your country to enter into a contract like this one.

If you use ScaleTool for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.

You are responsible for what happens on the account you sign in with, and for keeping access to that Discord account secure.

Your Discord account

Signing in uses Discord OAuth. We ask for the identify scope, which is how we read your user ID, username, display name, and avatar.

We never ask for your Discord password, and we cannot post messages, join servers, or take any action on your behalf with the access we request.

YouTube channels

How many channels you can keep connected depends on your plan. A free account can connect one channel, and paid plans connect up to three. The current number for each plan is shown on the Billing page.

You may only connect channels you are allowed to access. Do not connect a channel on behalf of someone else without their permission.

Connecting a channel reads public channel data through the YouTube Data API. We cannot upload, edit, or delete anything on a connected channel. Figures can lag behind what YouTube shows, and subscriber counts are unavailable for channels that hide them.

Disconnecting a channel removes it from ScaleTool. It does not affect the channel itself.

Plans, credits, and payment

Some tools need an active subscription. The plans, what each one unlocks, and the current price of each are shown on the Billing page before you pay.

Plans are subscriptions and renew automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on what you chose, until you cancel. Payment is taken at the start of each period.

Cards and other payment details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Your card number never reaches our servers, and we cannot see or store it. We store only what we need to recognise your subscription: a customer reference, a subscription reference, the plan and billing period, the status, the current period end, and the date of the last payment.

You can cancel at any time from the Billing page. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access to everything your plan unlocked until the end of the period you already paid for, and no further charges are made.

Credits are a usage allowance, not money. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold, or exchanged for cash, and do not earn interest. A plan adds credits at the start of each billing period, and unused credits stay in your balance while your account exists.

A new account is given a one time free grant of 15 credits so the free tools can be tried. To keep that offer from being farmed, it is limited to one grant per account and one per internet address, as described in the Privacy Policy. Using more than one account, or other means, to claim it repeatedly is a breach of these terms.

Prices are in US dollars and may change. If a price changes we will tell you before it takes effect, and you can cancel before the next renewal if you do not want to pay it. You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchase other than taxes on our own income.

Your content and how we process it

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give us permission to store it, process it, and pass it to the service providers that do the work, only so we can provide the features you ask for.

Video, audio, images, and text you submit may be sent to third party processing services, for example to transcribe audio, analyse a video, generate an image, or match a sound. Those services process the material on our instructions and return a result to us.

We do not use your content to train models, and we do not sell it. See the Privacy Policy for what is kept and for how long.

You confirm you have the rights you need in anything you upload, and that what you ask us to do with it is lawful.

Downloading videos

The video downloader saves a copy of a YouTube video so you can keep it. Only use it on videos you own or have the rights to use. Downloading a video from YouTube may breach the YouTube Terms of Service, and you are responsible for how you use what you download.

ScaleTool does not keep a library of downloaded videos. A downloaded file is held on the server only long enough to hand it to you, and is deleted as soon as that transfer finishes. Anything left over, such as a video you previewed but never downloaded, is removed automatically within an hour.

A video downloaded for a review stays available only while that review exists, and is deleted when you delete the review.

Refunds

All purchases are final. A payment is not refunded and not credited back, including for a change of mind, an unused balance, a billing period you did not use, or a renewal you forgot to cancel.

If we charge you in error we will put it right, and rights the law gives you are yours whatever this says. The Refund Policy, linked at the foot of this page, sets out both in full and forms part of these terms.

The affiliate program

Every account is given a link of its own. The rates the program pays, and the discount a link gives the person who uses it, are stated on the Affiliate page and are set by us. We can change them, and we will tell you before a change takes effect. A change does not affect a commission already credited, or a purchase already made.

When somebody follows your link and later subscribes, they get the first period discount the program advertises at that time, and you are credited a share of the payments from that account. It is a share of every payment, not only the first, so it continues for as long as they stay subscribed.

Earnings are recorded on your affiliate panel as they happen. Payouts are made monthly, on the first of the month, to the PayPal address you set on that panel. Anything pending on that day is paid and your pending balance returns to zero. If you have not set an address, your balance is held until you do. A payout that is made is recorded on your panel and on our side, and it is never taken back once sent.

Earnings are a share of income, they are not money held for you until we pay them, they cannot be transferred or sold, and they are not a promise of any particular income. The amount is worked out from what the subscriber was actually charged, so a discounted first period earns less than a full price renewal.

Use your link honestly. Do not create accounts to refer them to yourself, pay or reward people to sign up and cancel, advertise on our name or on our trademarks, post links where links are not allowed, or promise more than the program offers. We may pause or end a link, and void the earnings from it, where that happens.

The program is offered as it is. It can be suspended or closed, and links stop paying if it is. Participating does not change anything about your own subscription, which is charged and can be cancelled in the usual way.

Fair use of the service

Do not attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorized access to ScaleTool, and do not use it to break the law, the Discord Terms of Service, or the YouTube Terms of Service.

Do not create accounts to obtain free credits more than once, share one account between people who should each have their own, resell access, or use automated means to run tools at a volume we could not support.

Do not use the tools to process material you have no right to, or to create material that is unlawful or that harms someone else.

We may suspend or end access, and cancel a subscription where the law allows it, if these terms are not followed. If we end your access for breaking these terms, we do not have to refund a period that has started.

Availability and changes

Features may change, and something you rely on today may work differently later. We aim to give notice before anything is removed.

We may also update these terms. If we make a material change we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use ScaleTool after that means you accept the update. If you do not agree, cancel your plan and stop using the service, and contact us so the account data can be removed.

Third party services

ScaleTool works alongside services we do not control, including Discord, YouTube, and our payment processor. Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their services.

ScaleTool is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord or YouTube.

Disclaimers and limits

ScaleTool is provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, including that the service will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any figure, transcript, analysis, or suggestion it produces will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.

The tools produce estimates and suggestions. They are not professional advice, and you are responsible for the decisions you make from them.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost views or subscribers, lost data, or any indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to it.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Ending this agreement

You can stop using ScaleTool at any time. Cancelling a plan stops future charges, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data.

We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service. If we stop offering it, we will give reasonable notice so you can export what you need.

Sections that by their nature should survive, including payment obligations already incurred, and the disclaimers and limits above, continue to apply after this agreement ends.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where ScaleTool is operated, and disputes will be handled by the courts there. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections you have under the law where you live.
